Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Olusegun Mimiko has said that the opposition party would wrestle power back from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 by repositioning the party and selling it to all Nigerians.
Mimiko who also doubles as the Ondo state governor said this at the Akure airport on his arrival from Abuja, where he was made the new PDP governors’ chairman.
He noted that the PDP was already re-strategizing to ensure that it bounces back in the 2019 general elections, Punch reports.

He said the governors of the party were committed in ensuring that the PDP plays its crucial role as an opposition to the APC and provide an alternative platform for Nigerians.

“We must sustain enthusiasm in our party; and as governors who have pivotal roles to play in re-branding our party, we must show in governance term the difference between us and the APC and these are the challenges ahead of us.”  he added.

He said the party will be re-branded so as “show Nigerians that we are a different party. We will not be abusive in opposing the government and we will praise where it is worthy of praise and criticise in a very robust manner.”
Meanwhile, governors under on the platform of the PDP have expressed disapproval over the relocation of the Taraba, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states’ election petitions tribunals to Abuja.

The reservations expressed by the governors is born out of fears that the relocation of the tribunals could affect the fairness of the tribunal to arrive at a decision.
