According to the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the drug operatives stormed the home of the 52year old billionaire at one of his mansions at Plot A45 Road 2 at the VGC after they got a tip off, having had him on their watch list for being a part of the  tramadol cartel in the country.

His words: ‘A search of the expansive mansion led to the discovery of 443 cartons of Tramadol Hydrochloride 225mg. This was in a carton which contained 13,451,466 pills of the drug, while some cartons were already burnt in a fire incident in the house same day’.

As their search led to the recovery of 443 cartons of Tramadol Hydrochloride 225mg which consisted of 13,451,466 pills, it happened that some other cartons were razed in a fire incident in the premises on the same day.

Investigations, according to the agency, showed that the VGC drug baron had six mansions in the high brow area. He uses one as a warehouse where he packs the Tramadol consignments and resides in the mansion at Plot Z-130 Road 67, while he uses another one as his office.

The NDLEA seized five of his exotic vehicles found in two of his mansions and moved them to their facility. Out of those vehicles were two SUVs and a bullet proof jeep.

In his reaction, the NDLEA boss, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), extolled the officers involved in the drug bust operation and thanked Nigerians for all they were doing to help the agency in the task of getting rid of these drug merchants involved in illicit trafficking in the country.

Hear him: ‘I’ll like to reassure Nigerians and other stakeholders wherever they are located across the country and beyond of our preparedness to work with them on this onerous task of saving our people from the drug scourge. This partnership is a further warning to the drug barons and cartels that there is no hiding place for them anymore, because we remain on their trail and we’ll always get them’, Marwa said.

Recall that on July 30, 2022. The operatives of the NDLEA busted a methamphetamine clandestinely laboratory in the home of yet another drug Lord in the same estate, Chris Emeka Nzewi, alongside his accomplice who aided him in cooking the illicit drug, Sunday Ukah. Not less than 258.74 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and some other illicit drugs were recovered at Nzewi’s home during his arrest.
