Chidinma Ekile, a popular Nigerian artist, has revealed why she stopped secular music.

According to GISTLOVER, the singer, who gained notoriety after winning Project Fame in 2010, claimed that she felt empty and distant from her source.

Chidinma had previously said in 2021 that she had converted to Christianity and would no longer perform secular songs.

The ‘Kedike’ crooner discussed her decision to stop performing secular music in a video uploaded on YouTube on Wednesday.

She claimed that while she had been striving for fulfillment, she had been unable to achieve it until she reconnected with her source (God).

In her words;

“I was looking for my fulfilment but I didn’t find it until I reconnected with my source.”

The singer also discussed how her encounter with God changed the course of her life, noting that she now finds serenity and purpose in her new position as a gospel minister.

Reactions to Chidinma’s decision to stop recording secular music from fans and fellow musicians in the industry were divided.

While some people cheered her on, others thought she was wasting her talent by making the choice.

The artist, who appears to be happy with her new direction, has been utilizing her songs to share the gospel and encourage people to have a personal relationship with God.

Positive feedback about her most recent song, “Jehovah Overdo,” has come from both fans and music journalists.
