Comedian Lasisi Elenu has called on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governors of the 36 states over the póor healthcare system in the country.
In a video he shared on his social media pages, he questioned why patients in need of urgent medical care are sometimes turned away from Federal hospitals because of lack of bed space.
Lasisi recounted his bitter experience with the poor medical system, which led to the death of his mother. He said his mother lost her life in 2022 after being moved between Federal hospitals, with the family repeatedly being told there was ‘no bed space’.
He said he has witnessed and heard similar experiences from close relations and friends. He expressed sadness at how people lose their lives because of the littlest things.
The comedian also critized the manner in which some medical personnel attend to patients, saying patients deserve to be treated with more patience, care and calmness.
Lasisi didn’t only attack the poor medical system, he also addressed the poor working conditions of healthcare workers and inadequate pay.
Calling on the President and the Governors of the state, he urged them to address the country’s healthcare challenges.
