The secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned South Easterners to be at alert, Monday August 23rd, as there is a likelihood that security operatives may unleash mayhem on innocent people and push the blame on members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

They made this statement while assuring Nigerians that they had no plans of enforcing the earlier plan of sit-at-home that was billed to take place every Monday.

They alleged that they uncovered a plot by security agencies to attack innocent traders that will come out to go about their legitimate businesses, saying that they planned to do it in the guise of IPOB and the ESN.

The IPOB explained in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Director, Comrade Emma powerful that it was important for the general public to know that the group had suspended its earlier weekly sit at home order since two weeks prior.

They said, in the statement, that the secret plots of Nigerian security operatives with particular reference to the DSS and the Nigerian Police Force to wear the garb of IPOB and ESN and cause mayhem was uncovered by the Intelligence Unit of the secessionist group.

They went on to advise everyone to be security conscious about this wicked plot as they go about their daily business, maintaining that all Ghost Mondays in solidarity with their detained leader have been scrapped and the sit at home will be observed only on days that he will make appearances in court.

He also said that even at that, information will be made public before time for the general public to know that there will be a sit-at-home.

He reiterated that the group will not accept any attack on innocent people under any guise, adding that all the DPOs, DCOs and other senior police officers in Enugu had allegedly convened the meeting to carry out this plan of attacking innocent people and tagging it ESN attacks.

In reaction, the spokesman of the Enugu state Police, Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the police in Enugu state remained committed to protecting the lives and property of the general public and went on to ask abiding citizens to go about their businesses normally on Monday while being rest assured that the Police Force will see that they are safe and protected from any mayhem.

Concerning the call by the Katsina state governor, Aminu Masari, asking the Katsina state citizens to defend themselves against the attacks or Fulani herdsmen, IPOB stated that it has only vindicated Mazi Kanu, who on his own part, advised innocent citizens of this country to acquire arms and protect themselves from such marauders.

Ipob considered Masari’s message to be a wake-up call for all the governors of the Southeast zone who seemed not to understand the manner the herdsmen carried out their operations. They maintained that the Fulani were using tactics to find avenues to conquer and Islamize indigenous people living in Nigeria with utmost desperation and that the Southeast governors needed to see things for what they really are.

He described Mazi Kanu as the man who saw tomorrow, adding that everything he said in the past had fully happened.
