Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has said transitioning into a solo career after the split of the defunct P-Square duo was not difficult for him.

Speaking in a recent interview with Lun Lifestyle TV, Rudeboy explained that his work as a solo artiste has largely remained the same as it was during his time with the group.

According to him, he was responsible for songwriting, production and singing while he was part of P-Square, making the transition to a solo career relatively seamless.

The singer also said working alone is less stressful for him compared with being part of the duo.

He said …

“Transitioning into a solo artist was less stressful for me. Because it was the same me that was doing everything in the group, with due respect.

I am the producer, writer, and singer. So, moving as a group, it is still the same thing. As I said, being a solo artist is less stressful. Inasmuch as I have a team, nobody is going to question me. I have more creative control. It is easy for me.”

P-Square, which comprised Paul and his twin brother Peter Okoye, has broken up twice. The first split occurred in 2017, following tensions that emerged in 2016, before the brothers reunited in 2021. The duo separated again in 2024.
