A group known as Progressive Youths for National Stability (PYNS), has declared her strong support for the move being proposed to grant automatic return tickets to APC lawmakers under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a good initiative that will boost the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, even as it sustains national development.

Speaking, through a statement signed by the president of the group, Comrade Aminu Mustapha Bako, Monday, he stated that the proposal, which was championed by the president will help in preserving the gains achieved through legislative-executive cooperation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Hear him: ‘This isn’t about entrenching individuals; it’s about entrenching progress. What we are advocating is the continuity of competence. Lawmakers who have become engines of reform, who have stood shoulder to shoulder with the President to deliver critical legislation, deserve the opportunity to finish what they started.’

He added that automatic tickets for trusted and tested lawmakers will reduce the legislative turnover that usually disrupts national momentum and make way for a predictable environment for policy implementation.

His words: ‘You cannot build a sustainable democracy on shifting sands. If we keep changing the players every four years, we risk resetting progress. With a core team of experienced legislators, the President can focus on delivery, not damage control.’

The group also stressed on the need for the APC to guard against subtle internal sabotage, noting that leaders of an emerging anti-coalition have been reaching out to lawmakers in order to fracture the party’s legislative base ahead of the 2027 election.

Bako asserted: ‘These are not alliances built on ideas or national interest. They are built on personal grudge and opportunism. But what gives us confidence is that many lawmakers have remained unmoved — because they know President Tinubu is not only a master strategist, but also a leader who honors his word.’

The group stated that these lawmakers are not loyal obligatorily, but rather as a result of a history of mutual respect consistent engagement, as well as a shared vision for the future of Nigeria.

‘What we see in the National Assembly today is a group of legislators who are not just allies of the President, but development partners. That’s the bond this policy seeks to protect. The President doesn’t forget his own, and in return, they’re standing firm with him’, the statement added.

Bako also warned that disrupting this alignment could harm the legislative cohesion and misdirect major policies that are currently in motion under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

‘When the executive and legislature are in sync, the country wins. Friction slows reforms, but synergy accelerates results. Automatic return tickets aren’t political handouts — they’re a stabilizing force for continuity, especially when tied to performance’, he stated.

He further addressed certain concerns within party ranks, especially from stakeholders who have shown reservations about the automatic ticket proposal. Referencing the Benue state governor, Hyacinth Alia as one as one of the voices urging caution, he called for dialogue and unity in response.

Hear him: ‘Governor Alia, like other committed party leaders, has every right to express his views. We believe these internal conversations are healthy for the party. However, we encourage a broader consensus around policies that promote continuity and cohesion — especially at a time when the country is undergoing significant reforms. This is a moment for unity, not division.’

‘What the party needs now is not division, but unity of purpose. We must reduce the cycle of post-primary litigation, factionalism, and distrust. Rewarding credible performance with continuity isn’t just good politics — it’s good governance’
