You might have probably wondered how it feels to be a celebrity and sometimes you assume that you get to live a stress-free life filled with glitz and glamour. You might want to think again because fame comes with hidden costs. Celebrities are prone to scandals because their mistakes are often publicized and there are no two ways about it. Everyone always has something to say and this brings us to popular Nigerian actor, Williams Uchemba, who got caught right in the middle of controversies.
The controversies trailing the actor revolves around his wedding to his longtime girlfriend, Brunella Oscar. On October 31, the film star took fans by surprise when he announced his engagement. Uchemba posted a photo of himself with his mystery woman but he did not reveal her identity until later on.
Fans were delighted to officially meet the woman behind the actor’s smile. Weeks later, the actor, who journeyed down to his fiancee’s hometown in Anambra state, shared a video of himself in the company of his guards at the airport. After making his intentions known to the family of his fiancee, he paid her bride price and he took her home on Sunday 15th November 2020. Photos and videos from the traditional wedding ceremony circulated on social media indicated that it was indeed a massive success.
One particular video stood out as it grabbed the attention of some conservative social media users. In the video, the actor was seen pouring away palm wine given to him by his wife as part of the traditional wedding rites. This rubbed people off in the wrong way and they didn’t fail to express their thoughts about it.
During the Igbo traditional marriage called ‘igbankwu’, the bride carries a cup of palm wine blessed by her father, to give to her groom, who is seated among the guests. The groom is expected to drink from it. However, the actor poured the wine on the ground and he received criticisms from some netizens.
The day for the white wedding arrived and the lovebirds exchanged their vows at Dominion City church headquarters for Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State. The wedding was officiated by the senior pastor of the church, David Ogbueli. The actor’s groomsmen included some celebrities like Peter Okoye, Falz, Banky W, Frank Edward and AY Makun and they all witnessed the solemnization of the couple.
Lagos socialite, Pretty Mike, caused a stir online after he showed up at the wedding ceremony with six heavily pregnant women he claimed to be his baby mamas. Interestingly, all the ladies wore matching silver outfits while Mike looked dapper in a lovely pink suit. Singer, Kcee, who was present at the event, slammed the Lagos socialite, saying that what he did was ‘rubbish’.
