UAC Foods Reaffirm Collaboration with University of Ibadan

UAC Foods Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to student development, knowledge sharing, as well as industry-academia partnerships, through a collaborative effort with the Department of Marketing and Consumers Studies, University of Ibadan.

During an industrial field trip to the corporate headquarters of UAC Foods Limited, situated at Ikorodu Road, Ojota, Lagos, the students were exposed to real-world corporate processes, ranging from production and logistics to marketing and quality assurance.

They were led by a Reader and Head of Department, Dr. Samuel Orekoya; a Postgraduate Sub-Dean, Dr. Oluseyi Ajayi, as well as a Postgraduate Examination Officer, Dr. Adeola Ayodele. The UAC Production Manager, Mr. Godson Duru, alongside his team, took the students on a tour of the facility.

During the tour, senior executives which included unit heads and brand managers, gave the students an in-depth briefing, while also explaining the operational, marketing and innovation strategies that have helped the company to remain at the forefront of the Nigerian market.

The session was led by the General Manager, Awosika, who affirmed the company’s market dominance, stating: ‘We are the leading brand today because we take bold steps.’

He further stated that UAC Remains committed towards partnering with the lUniversity of Ibadan as part of its corporate social responsibility mandate.

On his part, the Head of Product Development and Marketing, Ayodele Ayoola, led a session on New Product Development (NPD), where he highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation.

He explained that the key pillars of the success of the UAC Foods Limited was, listening to consumers, continuous improvement in processes as well as regulatory compliance.

The National Trade Marketing and Strategy Manager, Sylvester Nwanze shared insights on brand philosophy, innovation, science, and market strategy, even as Seyi Afolayan, the Brand Manager Snacks, elaborated on Gala’s market strategy, which includes partnerships with over hundred schools in 2025 and digital engagement initiatives.

She gave an insight on how product extensions reflect the innovation culture of the company, while digital marketing enhances community management and engagement.

In response, Orekoya, expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality shown them by the company.

He stated: ‘The visit reinforced classroom learning and exposed our students to real-world business operations. We are grateful to this valuable opportunity.’

On his part, Ajayi commended the warm reception, noting that the trip would compliment academic lectures, even as he urged students to leverage the experience.

During his speech, Dr. Adeola Ayodele stated that the field trip will help close the gap between the town and the gown, while also providing practical exposure to corporate operations.

Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan, was founded in 1948 and still remains the country’s top ranked institution.

In the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, the University of Ibadan claimed its position as the number one university in Nigeria, ranking in the 801-1000 band globally. It also placed in the 1001-1002 band in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.
