A picture of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, sleeping during a meeting, Saturday, with the Emir, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar and other APC stalwarts at the Gombe Emir Palace has gone viral, generating reactions from Nigerians.

The Presidential hopeful visited Gombe for the wedding of Musbahu Inuwa Yahaya, the son of the Gombe State governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, who got married to Amira Babayo on Saturday.

Among the dignitaries that attended the wedding were Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashima Shettima, Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

After the wedding ceremony, they paid a courtesy call to the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar to pay homage to the Monarch and have a brief political meeting with him. There are speculations that the APC Presidential flag bearer and his team actually visited the Gombe Emir’s palace, basically to seek the support of the top northern monarch for his presidential bid in 2023.

It therefore came as a rude shock to Nigerians when a picture of the Senate President standing and addressing attendees with a microphone at the Gombe Emir Palace was seen posted all over the cyberspace, with Ashiwaju, sleeping while a meeting as crucial as that was going on.

This has triggered a lot of reactions from Nigerians on social media as they attributed it to the fact that Tinubu was not healthy and strong enough for his present bid to take over the leadership of Nigeria in 2023, as the journey from Lagos to Gombe weakened him to the point of sleeping through a meeting that was in his best interest.

All efforts made to reach the spokesperson of Tinubu’s Campaign proved abortive as this reporter tried to get their response to the viral posts concerning their principal, especially as the opposition had intensified claims that Tinubu was not medically fit to run, judging from the incoherent remarks he has been seen making during public speeches and his habit of tripping over in public glare, in recent times.

In defense, the 70year old presidential hopeful has always retorted that there was nothing wrong with his condition, while stressing that the job of President required more intelligence than physical strength.

Nigerians have however expressed different reactions on this. Hear are some of them as copied from Twitter:

@Oserume1 wrote, ‘Tinubu campaign organisation will soon release a statement that Tinubu was not sleeping but only meditating and thinking about the solutions to Nigeria’s problems.’

On his part, @EjioforOnyishi wrote, ‘The old man need rest, but his desperation to answer Nig president without having anything positive to offer won’t allow him rest. Nig is in total mess currently and needs sound competent leader like Obi to fix d mess, you don’t handover a sick country to sick president, vote wisely.’

A concerned @ivoh_ivoh wrote: ‘I just wonder how Tinubu will face the rigor of campaign. How on earth can he move from state to state making speeches day in day out? HOW? Pls APC don’t do this to Nigeria.’

Another twitter user, @a_withus wrote, ‘This is how he will sleep till Shettima becomes his boss.’
