Army deploys soldiers, helicopters in search of ESN in Orlu Imo State Nigeria

The Nigerian military has commenced operations in search of the camps occupied by the personnel of Eastern Security Network.

This has consequently caused panic in Orlu and Orsu local government areas of Imo state.

According to the army spokesperson of the 34 artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, the locals were not being harassed despite the operation.

Punch reports that he confirmed the deployment of helicopters and other military gadgets in the operations.

In another development, a clash between Nigerian soldiers and security volunteers suspected to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has reportedly left some people dead.

The clash occurred in Okporo, Banana junction, Ogboosisi in Orlu local government area of Imo state on Monday, January 25.

The publication reported that 10 people were feared dead as a result of the crisis while some houses were set on fire.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the head of the department of mass communication at the Kwararafa University, Wukari, Taraba state, Dr Thomas Uzah, on Tuesday, February 16, said that the immediate past service chiefs will make the African continent proud as non-career ambassadors.

Uzah while speaking at a media parley attended by Legit.ng said Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (retired) and other former service chiefs who have been nominated as ambassadors by President Muhammadu Buhari are on a step towards addressing the security challenges in Nigeria.

The university don said the nomination of the past military chiefs by the president would galvanize them towards utilizing their wealth of experience in service to the country over the years.
