Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has pledged to translate ideas generated through engagements with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora into development projects.
Akpoti-Uduaghan made the pledge after meeting members of the Ebira community in Maryland, United States, at a gathering organised by the Ebira First Forum and coordinated by Mr Bashir Enesi Abubakar.
In a statement issued by her Media Office in Abuja on Thursday, the senator described the gathering as an enriching engagement on the future of Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria.
She said the meeting provided an opportunity for members of the Ebira community and Nigerians from other parts of the country to exchange ideas on development and leadership.
“While in America, I spent a wonderful evening with members of our Ebira community in Maryland at a gathering of the Ebira First Forum, coordinated by my dear big brother, Mr Bashir Enesi Abubakar,” she said.
The lawmaker said Engr. Charles Jagun of Akoko Edo also attended the gathering and presented a letter of appreciation for streetlight projects facilitated through her office.
“Nigerians from other communities joined us, including Engr. Charles Jagun of Akoko Edo, who presented a letter of appreciation for the streetlight projects we facilitated,” she said.
According to her, the participants shared ideas and expressed their aspirations for Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria.
“We shared ideas and hopes for Ebiraland, Kogi State and Nigeria, united by our desire for good leadership and a better country,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said effective representation should go beyond legislative duties to include sustained engagement with constituents and practical interventions that address community needs.
“It was indeed an enriching evening and I look forward to more conversations as I set forth to using my office in the Senate to help turn the ideas we shared into action,” she said.
The senator expressed appreciation to members of the Ebira community and other Nigerians who attended the gathering, as well as her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, for his support.
