Gunmen attack Nasarawa village, abduct LG chair

Gunmen have abducted Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, chairman of Akwanga LGA, in Nasarawa state.

NAN reports that Ramhan Nansel, police spokesperson in the state, said the chairman was abducted alongside another resident at Ningo village.

Nansel said the chairman was abducted at about 8:30 pm on Monday, adding that the police command has mobilised personnel to go after the “hoodlums” and ensure the rescue of the abductees.

“The police in collaboration with other security agencies are currently on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the release of the council chairman and the other victim,” NAN quoted Nansel as saying.

The police spokesperson called on members of the public and those in the area to support the command with relevant information that would help in the rescue of the abducted persons and arrest of the perpetrators.
