A fatal auto accident in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, involving a blue commercial bus with registration number, RBC15ZN, a tricycle carrying school children and a motorcycle, has claimed the lives of seven people, precisely, three school children and four adults around the WOCDIF axis, Ring Road, along the Osun West bypass road, Osogbo in the state.
According to an eye witness who identified himself as Akande Babawale, the accident occurred when the bus driver suddenly swerved off his lane and crashed into the moving tricycle that had the school children and the motorcycle, instantly killing four victims on the spot.
In confirmation, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, in Osun State, Agnes Ogungbemi, stated that the cause of the fatal accident in Osogbo was majorly, a bust tire and overspeeding by the commercial bus.
She further confirmed that a total of seven people were killed in the auto crash, including four adults, two male children and a female child. Hear her: ‘Four persons died on the spot, four injured persons were taken to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, three of the injured victims were later confirmed dead and one female child is undergoing treatment.’
The vehicles, she said, had already been taken to Dugbe Police Divisional Headquarters in Osogbo.
On his part, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed his shock over the news of the fatal accident in Osogbo, stating that he is deeply hurt by the sad deaths of the seven residents of the state.
Speaking through a statement released by his spokesperson, Rasheed Olawale, after the sad incident of the fatal accident in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke expressed the deep sympathy of his government and people of Osun State to the families of those affected by the incident.
He made a call to road users and motorists to always exercise caution and obey strict safety guidance on roads, stating that the state government under his administration will work with the right authorities, so as to ensure that the roads in Osun State would be safer for road users.
His words: ‘I am distraught to hear about the terrible accident that resulted in the death of five people in Osogbo due to a fatal accident while five other people sustained injuries of varying degrees. It is really painful for me, and I want to use this avenue to commiserate with the families of the decease’
‘I commend the state’s emergency service for the swiftness in responding to mishap as the current incident. I declare the willingness of this administration to continue to pursue efforts to guide against an experience like this’, he stated.
‘It is my prayer that God Almighty repose their souls and give their loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses occasioned by their death.
