David Adeleke, Nigerian Afropop singer better known as Davido, is all smiles after Debo Ogundoyin, his former co-manager, emerged speaker of the 9th Oyo state house of assembly.

The 26-year-old record producer — having co-managed Dremo, Nigerian recording artiste, alongside Ogundoyin — left no stone unturned in lauding the career masterstroke of his one-time partner.

“I love when dreams come true. Three years ago, you were co-managing DremoDrizzy with me. Today, you became the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly. I’m so happy and proud of you,” he wrote in a congratulatory tweet.

Ogundoyin, who hails from Ibarapa east LGA and doubles as the son of Adeseun Ogundoyin, the late industrialist, emerged the speaker of the house on Monday, with a unanimous voice vote of the 32-member assembly.

He won under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mohammed Fadeyi, from Ona Ara constituency, who is also a member of the PDP, was elected deputy speaker of the assembly.

The 32-year-old lawmaker’s emergence came shortly after Seyi Makinde, the state governor, had inaugurated the assembly.

Ogundoyin was first elected into the state house of assembly in 2018, following the death of Michael Adeyemo, the former speaker, who also hails from Ibarapa east.

Meanwhile, Abok Ayuba, a 33-year-old final year student of the University of Jos, also emerged speaker of the Plateau state house of assembly.
