A Court has selected three facilities where Liam, the son of late singer Mohbad, would conduct his DNA tests.
It is no longer news that since the death of the singer, his family has been with his wife over a DNA test for his son, Liam.

A Lagos court on Tuesday, December 24th, selected three facilities – two in the UK and one in the US. According to reports, one facility was chosen from Baba Mohbad, another from Wunmi, and the third was selected independently by the court.
The case has been adjourned to April 7, 2026. DNA samples will be collected in the presence of all parties to ensure transparency, and the process of sending the samples overseas will be strictly monitored.

Recall that following the singer’s death, in 2023, many have been clamoring for a DNA test to be done on Liam, his son to ascertain his paternity. Even Mohbad’s father had called for DNA to be done on his son.
Kemi Filani reported in September that a Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, ordered a deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to be carried out on Liam, the son of Mohbad. The singer’s father, through his counsel, argued that clarity on paternity is essential given its implications for the child’s welfare and the mother’s maintenance obligations. Mohbad’s widow, represented by her lawyer, didn’t oppose the application, leading the court to grant the order as requested.
In the wake of the test, Mohbad’s family had banned his widow from using their family’s surname in public or private records until lawful confirmation of paternity was obtained. They noted that no statutory or customary marriage was contracted between the late Mohbad and Wunmi Adebanjo.
Reacting to it, Wunmi’s lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, described the directive as illegal and sentimental. He accused Aloba’s family of frustrating the DNA process despite multiple court orders.
Wunmi also took legal action to safeguard the late singer’s property, preventing any unauthorised claims to his estate.
In a recorded statement, the singer’s father dropped a bombshell on his widow, detailing clarification, questioning who collected her bride price and doubling down on the need for a DNA test. He denied that any traditional wedding had taken place and claimed that Mohbad had initially promised to formalise the marriage but later withdrew after alleging that Cynthia was unfaithful.
Mohbad’s father claimed that these circumstances prompted him to request a DNA test to confirm the child’s parentage.
