A former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, has tasked the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to withdraw his petition against President-elect, Bola Tinubu and rather join him in building a new Nigeria.

Speaking, through a statement released by the former state governor, he said that Obi lacked the national appeal to win the presidential election, pointing out that Obi’s petitioning against Bola Tinubu was merely as a result of ‘bad belle, petulance and demarketing’.

Hear him: ‘His Petition is dead on arrival. He does not have the spread or national appeal. His appeal to non-electoral matters is to demarket the President-elect and besmirch his reputation.’

‘His petition is ego-driven, a joke carried too far. His attempt to highlight non-electoral issues is trying to embarrass the President-elect.’

‘Obi needs to come down from his high horse to allow sedate minds to negotiate on behalf of the Igbo and South East for a safe landing to include our stake in the national Palavar and Share of the accruals of the commonwealth’, he said.

He continued: ‘We must join the mainstream and participate in making a new Nigeria. We are not going anywhere. We de kampe and ready to bargain for our own share. It is common knowledge that others are doing the same.’

According to him, it was time for the Igbo nation to confront reality or prepare to be consigned to the backwoods of history.

Senator Nnamani stressed that it was important for the Labour Party flag bearer, alongside his supporters to identify with the merriment and congeniality of accepting and welcoming Bola Tinubu’s victory to the Office of the President of the greatest black nation on earth.

Nnamani, who lost his Enugu East Senatorial District re-election bid to the Labour Party candidate, Kelvin Chukwu, averred that the political trajectory of the Igbo nation had been set back by 24 years  by Peter Obi, while describing him as a twin blight and scourge on the land. In the month of March, he blamed the ethnic and religious profiling and attacks on the people of the South East, resident in some areas of Nigeria, on Obi’s political journey. He also described Peter Obi’s political trajectory as devious and wicked, stating that it was a dangerous opium served to Christians and Igbo people resident in different parts of the country.

Recall that Peter Obi came third in the general election of February 25th, 2023. He however filed a petition to challenge its outcome at the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja, where he alleged that the election was fraught with numerous irregularities which included the non qualification of Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima to contest in the poll.

He also maintained that Tinubu neither won the majority of the lawful votes cast in the election, nor was he able to secure ¼ of the legal votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
