A Bayelsa State-based lawyer, Wisdom Meni Adike, has dragged President Buhari, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and four others to the Federal High Court, Yenagoa over last Friday’s invasion of the residence of a Supreme Court Justice, Mary Odili, by security agents in Abuja.

Also listed as respondents in the suit are the Nigeria Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), CSP Lawrence F. Ajodo and Aliyu Umar Ibrahim.

He is asking the court to declare the invasion “with a search warrant fraudulently obtained” as unconstitutional, wrongful, and executive lawlessness intended to picture the Nigerian State as a lawless democracy.

Besides, he said the invasion was a gross violation of sections 34, 35, 37, 41, 42 and 43 of the 1999 Constitution.

He also sought an order of the court to stop the respondents from further harassing, intimidating, falsely imprisoning Justice Mary Odili against her will.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and the National Association of Seadogs otherwise known as Pyrates Confraternity, have condemned the invasion while demanding full inquiry.

The governor described the incident as an ill-advised sting operation and an attempt to intimidate the judiciary.
