President Muhammadu Buhari has today, Monday, November 23, revealed that the news of the death of Audu Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress’ guber candidate in Kogi got him devastated.

Buhari said this in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

The president who received the news in shock was quoted as saying: “We are obviously devastated at the loss. He was immensely courageous.”

Describing the deceased as a talented politician, a loving family head and a respected community leader, the president sympathized with the family of Audu, the government and people of Kogi State as well as all APC members who had expectations of him returning as the new governor of the state. Declaring him the favorite of the people in the inconclusive election, Buhari prayed to Allah to repose his soul and to give his family and the entire Kogi people the fortitude to bear his loss.

The 68-year-old former governor at the time of his death was the governorship flag bearer of the APC in Kogi. He is survived by wives and children.
