It’s often perceived by fans and Social media critics that majority of the world’s susperstars and celebrities do not always have a successful relationship and marriage. This notion stems from the purported lifestyle and the nature of the job they do.

In Africa for instance many do not appreciate their spouse, fiancee or whomever they are in a relationship with to be seen in public acting nude scenes in movies or in public performances like singing or advertising. Many frown at the impression or image of seeing their husbands or wives starring in movies all in the name of professionalism in their chosen careers.
This situation has led to numerous altercations, misunderstandings and in some extreme cases, it can lead to divorce from couples who find themselves in such a dilemma.
While many suggestions claim that it’s better for celebrities to date and marry themselves, others feels that it takes only the grace of God and serious focus and discipline to keep a healthy relationship and marriage as a celebrity.
Mrs Ufuoma McDermott a popular Nigerian celebrity, begs to differ the odds as she has, in an interview session disclosed why her marriage is successful.
The Nollywood actress and mother of two, has shared some rare tips on how to have a successful marriage and explained why it is possible for celebrities to enjoy a good relationship and lifestyle despite the hazards and distractions that come with the nature of their profession.
However, the happily married actress in an exclusive interview she recently had with Saturday Beats revealed that her marriage has been very wonderful, and that certain factors were responsible for it.
Recall that the beautiful thespian and her European husband, Steven McDermott, had celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary few months ago.
Speaking on the popular perception that actresses don’t last in marriages, Ufuoma told Saturday Beats;
“The first thing we should understand is that everybody just wants to be happy. I think people should work towards whatever it takes to achieve happiness. Sometimes, it goes through, and sometimes, it falls through and the spouses would have to go their separate ways. I don’t believe that two people would come together with the aim that some years down the line, they would have a divorce. However, as time goes on, they would realise that there are differences they cannot handle. They would have thought they could but it may not work out and they would have to go their separate ways. In some cases, that is the safer option and everybody would be happy.
“It is not just about being tolerant; it is also about being understanding, and knowing what one’s breaking point is. I have not ‘met’ my breaking point. But, I have had challenges in my marriage. There are times I upset my husband and there are times he upsets me. Through it all, we both have not reached our breaking points. We are still at the point where it is okay for us to have misunderstandings. We correct the mistake and keep moving. We have done that for 10years.”
According to the former Miss Ebony Beauty, couples who share their love lives and relationships on social media should be first and foremost comfortable with such a life style and the glitz and glamour that accompanies it. Moreover people should learn to understand and follow what is beneficial to them. She emphasized this point saying that said, “Whatever works for one. My husband is not a public person. I respect his personality the way he respects mine, and that works for us.”
Ufuoma and her Caucasian husband embraced the marital union in a star studded wedding in 2010 and are now blessed with two lovely kids, a boy and a girl.
“I have everything and every reason to be thankful” – Actress, Ufuoma McDermott writes as she celebrates 10th wedding anniversary.
