Award-winning singer Peter Okoye has admitted to receiving royalties during a recent court hearing against his brother, Jude Okoye.
He admitted it while testifying virtually before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos, during cross-examination by Jude’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor, SAN.
Peter disclosed that he received over $800,000 in royalties from SACEM for Psquare’s musical works, but said Jude received no share.
He maintained that Jude wasn’t entitled to the money, insisting it belonged to him and his twin, Paul. He said he didn’t inform Jude about the payments because they were for the artists, and Jude wasn’t part of P-Square.
Peter, however, said that though Jude directed some of P-Square’s music videos, he and his twin composed, wrote, and produced the group’s songs.
The singer confirmed receiving the royalty report, which covered payments from 2016 to 2022, and said it was requested because some people were interested in buying the P-Square music catalogue.
The court adjourned the hearing to December 8 and 9, 2026.
Refreshing your memory, in March, last year, Jude was arraigned at FHC in Ikoyi, for an alleged N1.38 billion fraud by EFCC.
In April, he was finally released from detention. His younger brother, Paul, announced his release on his Instagram story as he threw shade at his twin brother, Peter, noting how all his efforts to frustrate his bail had finally collapsed.
Addressing the accusations from Peter, Jude, via his Instagram Live noted how people keep expecting him to settle the differences between his brothers when Peter Okoye doesn’t even respect him. He stated that he hadn’t had anything to do with Psquare in 8 years and questioned why Peter is always fond of roping him in his issues.
A ew months ago, Peter went on a tell-all series, sharing his side of the story over his fallout with his brothers.
In the second part of his tell-all, he claimed Jude wanted 30% and questioned why their brother must manage them.
In the third part of his tell-all series, Peter alleged that he discovered he was no longer a signatory to Northside Entertainment’s bank account while trying to obtain the company’s statement of account. Peter questioned why his brothers would steal from him if money weren’t important, and called their action a pure betrayal.
Jude, debunked his claims, accusing him of trying to bait him and manipulate public opinion through social media while the matter remains before the court. He maintained that he wouldn’t be discussing issues that are still part of the ongoing legal proceedings, beyond correcting what he described as false narratives.
Peter, released the fifth part of his tell-all series, making fresh allegations of Jude threatening to shoot him during a disagreement over the ownership of a property in the United States after he questioned plans to sell it.
Responding to him, Jude questioned why Peter was resorting to sharing such a video, as he handed him over to God. Jude said Peter will be in his prayers.
In his final series, he accused his brothers of stealing $3.2 million in 2013 from their Forex account. He said the betrayal wasn’t the hardest part, but the backstabbing was because of who it came from.
