Proposes 5-Star Hotel in Umuahia to Attract National and International Conferences

The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has announced that his administration will build a 5-Star Hotel in the state and will continue to put together, necessary infrastructure like the Enyimba Radisson Blue Hotel in Aba, so as to make Abia State a first choice for national and  international conferences.

Speaking, Tuesday, while receiving members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers who visited the state for their Annual Conference/Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Otti made this disclosure.

He expressed his willingness to partner with members of the group in order to develop the state. He further stated that he considers the institution as sharing the same vision and aspirations with his administration for a better Abia state, noting that governance is about promoting the welfare of the people and service to the fatherland.

His words: ‘We consider ourselves partners to institutions and people, who share our vision and aspiration for a better place for our people.’

‘We have worked closely with members of this institution in Abia, and I think we will even redouble that effort.’

‘There are a lot of things we are doing in real estate that will require your involvement and that of your members.’

‘I think this offers us an opportunity to close ranks and work more closely with each other.’

The governor also thanked the institution for accepting to hold this year’s conference, and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in Abia State and further assured members that his cabinet would support the association.

Hear him: ‘I will instruct my commissioners, who are here to work closely with you. I also want to say that people are on hand to give you all the necessary support that you require.’

He gave the members of the institution the assurance that they would have a memorable stay throughout the five day period of their meeting, noting that his administration is gradually putting in place, the necessary infrastructure, including the proposed 5-star hotel in Umuahia, so as to make it a first choice for national and international conferences.

Speaking, during the event, which kicked off on Monday, April 13, the president and chairman of the Council of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Victor Alonge, stated that they were on a visit to the state for the AGM which was themed: ‘Corridors, Connectivity and Capital: Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments.’

He disclosed that this is the first time Abia State is hosting the annual conference and expressed his joy that it is happening under Governor Alex Otti.

According to him, Abia is noted for its significant contributions to the development of the institution and thanked the governor for the financial and logistical support, including the cordial working relationship between members of the institution and the state government.

He added that their members have progressively impacted the state in areas like policy formulation, asset management, housing, project development, land administration, among others.

He also averred that Governor Alex Otti’s transformation drive and sound policies have opened up the state to local and foreign investments which have significantly strengthened the state’s economy.
