The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has assigned portfolios to six new commissioners, Tuesday, in the state, tasking them to resume duties immediately, so as to attract development in the state.
This disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, who listed comprehensively, the appointments while laying emphasis on the need for them to immediately assume office.
The statement partly read: ‘It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has sworn in six commissioners into the State Executive Council.’
The statement indicated that Paul Nosayaba Ohanbamu is assigned to the Ministry of Information and Communications; Washington Osa Osifo to the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, and Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu to the Ministry of Education.
Lucky Esigbe is assigned to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Andrew Ijegbai to the Ministry of Mining, and Marie Olabisi Idaomi to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The statement indicated: ‘The newly sworn-in commissioners and their portfolios are, Paul Ohonbamu – Ministry of Information and Communication, Dr. Washington Osifo – Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu – Ministry off Education, Lucky Eseigbe – Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Andrew Ijegbai – Ministry of Mining,, Marie Olabisi-Idaomi – Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.’
‘All commissioners, are expected to resume at the various ministries with immediate effect.’
Speaking, during the swearing-in ceremony held Monday, at the New Festival Hall, Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo mandated the new executives to work diligently in order to deliver development across the state.’
He explained that his administration was ready to fast track progress and fulfill all the promises made to the citizens of the state during his campaigns.
While congratulating the newly appointed commissioners, the governor told them that their appointment was not just an honor, but a call to serve the state with dedication, integrity, and excellence.
He outlined the skills and competencies of the new commissioners, while reiterating that their selection reflects his administration’s commitment to good governance, efficient service and the general well-being of the people of Edo State.
Hear him: ‘You have been chosen because of your skills and the trust we have in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of our state.’
He further urged the commissioners to make teamwork a priority and remain focused on initiatives that would add value to the lives of the residents of Edo State.
His words: ‘I encourage you to work with a shared sense of purpose, prioritise teamwork, and remain focused on improving the lives of our citizens. Together, we can make Edo State a model of growth and prosperity.’
Other appointees that took their Oaths of Office on the same day include the Chairman of the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), members of the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB), Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), as well as members of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC).
