The Ogun State-born billionaire businessman and Maritime magnate, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, known for throwing earth-shaking parties is presently getting ready to throw, yet another party soon.
Recall that last year, the successful entrepreneur threw some really lavish parties that remained the talk of the town for a long time. In May 2021, he launched his impressive Marriott Hotel at the Ikeja GRA in Lagos. It was attended by the crème-de-la-crème of high society Lagos, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yomi Osinbajo.
Shortly after, he sent out invites for his three-in-one event, namely hisbirthday bash, housewarming and church dedication. The three-day event earlier held in June, in his native Ogun State was as lavish as they come, with the shakers and movers of society in attendance, making it a set standard for social parties in Nigeria.
The successful Maritime mogul, Taiwo Afolabi is presently planning yet another high class party in October. This time, it’s the wedding of his first daughter, Mariam Abiola Afolabi, who will be tying the nuptial knots with her heartthrob. Even though the Afolabi family has kept preparations and even details of the wedding hush-hush, the leaked details have left many members of Lagos social circles excited as they look forward it.
Mariam, the first daughter of the business mogul, used to run The Style Café, a lifestyle complex, due to her father’s magnanimity, which he always brings on in full measure. She was however appointed Executive Director of the SIFAX Group in 2018. Since then, she has kept a low profile and stayed off the radar. Now that she’s leaving spinsterhood and getting married to her boyfriend of many years, her friends all look forward to having a good time with her, knowing that her father, Taiwo Afolabi knows how to throw great parties.
Taiwo Afolabi will play host to the high and mighty in mid-October at Miriam’s traditional wedding in mid-October in the city of Lagos. The event, which will hold in his prestigious Marriott Hotel at the Ikeja GRA will be done secretly by invitation. Since it’s not an all comers affair, the guest list has been kept at 150 quality people.
The white wedding is billed to take place towards the end of the year and the destination will be outside the country. Initially, the plan was that it would hold in Dubai at the United Arab Emirates. However, the current travel ban placed on Nigeria by the Gulf nation left Taiwo Afolabi with no choice than to make alternate plans for the party to be moved to an undisclosed country in Europe.
As from next week, the invitation cards will be sent out to strictly very selected guests. While close family and friends are looking forward to both the traditional and white weddings, Taiwo Afolabi is sparing no cost in giving his daughter a memorable party to be remembered for a long time.
