The immediate past president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan turned 58 on Friday, November 20.
Prominent Nigerians sent him birthday messages, among them former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Femi Fani-Kayode, Peoples Democratic Party through its publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh.
The message of the former spokesman to Jonathan, Reuben Abati on Twitter on his former boss on turning 58 aptly said it all: “When things are rosy people come around but when things get bad they desert you.”
Because last year, many were trying to outd0 themselves to send Jonathan hearty birthday wishes and also host him or attend his birthday party.
Among Jonathan’s former aides and friends, it was Abati, his wife Omolara, Jonathan’s daughters and in-law alongside other friends that gathered to celebrate the former president. The former first lady, Patience Jonathan, was however absent during the celebration.
On the birthday cake cut was written: “Happy birthday To the Hero of democracy. From all of us at Sahara,”

On November 19, Jonathan was in the United States as a guest of the National Democratic Institute.
He was the president of Nigeria from May 6, 2010 to May 28, 2015.
