PHOTOS: Buhari Delivers Address At GECF Summit In Iran

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Tehran, Iran, to participate in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit.

President Buhari being received by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Hassan Rouhani as he arrived at the Valenjak Conference Centre Tehran for the 3rd Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Tehran Iran on November 23.

Buhari was at the Valenjak Conference Centre in Tehran today, November 23 for the summit where he met with leaders from other member countries of GECF.

The president arrived at the Mehrabad International Airport on Sunday, November 22 and was received by the Iranian deputy president, Shariat Madri around 7.15pm local time (4.44pm Nigerian time).

He is scheduled to be back in Abuja on November 24, Tuesday.

This morning, President Buhari was accompanied for breakfast by the Nigerian representative in Iran, Dr Ali Magashi, and Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

GECF consists of 17 main and observer members with its permanent secretariat in Doha, Qatar.

Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, and the United Arab Emirates, are main members of the GECF, while Netherlands, Iraq, Oman, Peru and Norway enjoy observer status of the body.

GECF members account for 42 per cent of global gas output, 70 per cent of global gas reserves, 40 per cent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 per cent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
