Nigeria election: Abdulsalam, Kuka, others meet Atiku, Obi, Saraki, Osinbajo

The National Peace Committee, NPC, led by an ex-Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar, on Thursday met with three of the major actors in the just concluded presidential election.

The meeting was held in Abuja and sought to find an amicable solution to the dispute being generated by the outcome of the polls.

The NPC met with Vice President-elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, PDP Campaign D-G, Bukola Saraki, National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, among others.

Abdulsalam, Rev. Matthew Kuka and others also met Osinbajo in the Presidential Villa, Abuja late on Thursday.

They had held a closed-door session with Atiku and Obi earlier in the evening.

The Committee met with Atiku and Obi at about 6pm, and met with Osinbajo later in the day at the Presidential Villa.

Top among the members of the NPC at the meeting were Abubakar, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah; Cardinal John Onaiyekan; and Rev. Fr. Atta Barkindo.

DAILY POST earlier reported that Atiku had rejected the result of the election, vowing to approach the court to seek redress.

He said that he had before the announcement of the result of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, told General Abubakar that the election had been rigged and he was not going to accept the result.
