Apostle Kassy Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has sparked outrage online after allegedly threatening Afrobeats star Davido and declaring that the singer had been banned from performing in Edo State.
Chukwu, who is also the General Overseer of Peniel Global Ministries, was quoted as saying: “You have been båñned from coming to perform in Edo state. If we catch you, we will tell boys to remove your teeth with slaps. I don’t blame you, I blame Isreal DMW.”
The reported comments have triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with users questioning the language used by a government aide and accusing him of making reckless threats.
The development comes amid Davido’s recent political activities involving Osun State. The singer actively supported his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, during the August 15 governorship election and participated in campaign activities and youth mobilisation for Adeleke. Adeleke subsequently won the election.
Chukwu’s reported remarks have since drawn criticism from some Nigerians, with many arguing that disagreements involving a public figure should not be accompanied by threats of violence.
