– The forum of non-National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) makes new demands

– Chieftains of the party want the APC to fill various vacancies including those of the Board of Trustees (BoT)

– The forum also accuses the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party of usurping the functions of the BoT

A fresh crisis could be brewing at the national headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following new demands by the forum of non-National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The forum has accused the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of usurping the functions and duties of the Board of Trustees (BoT) which the APC has refused to constitute.

While demanding for the constitution of the BoT at the headquarters in Abuja, the forum’s chairman, Nelson Alapa, said the existing vacant positions must be filled.

According to him, some of these positions include those of the departmental directors, the national secretary, the national auditor, the deputy national chairman in charge of south as well as the national vice chairman for north west.

“We use this time to call on all the key stakeholders to ensure that Board of Trustees/national elders council as the case may be is constituted within a reasonable time frame majorly to enhance our party status and operationalism.

“That all vacant positions in the party should be filled appropriately to guarantee equity and fairness,” he said.

The communique released by the forum, according to Alpha, is to create the appropriate awareness necessary for the founding fathers and leaders of the APC to urgently salvage the party from possible imminent fractures or cracks if things are left the way they are currently.

He noted that the 2014 APC constitution as amended, makes the National Executive Committee (NEC) members of which the forum falls, the third highest organ after the national convention and BoT and even takes precedence before the NWC.

“It Is disheartening that National Working Committee has usurped completely powers of the National Executive Committee (NEC) the negative effects of which are currently hitting back to all levels of the party signalling serious dangers to the stability, coherence, unity, loyalty, commitment and preparedness for continuity In governance,” the forum said in the communique.

Legit.ng earlier reported that governors on the platform of the APC recently issued a warning over the crises in the party saying these may lead to the destruction of the political organisation.

The governors issued the warning when they visited the leadership of the ninth National Assembly in Abuja on Monday, October 7.
