‘Distraught’ Paris Jackson ‘checks into rehab’ after Michael Jackson documentary

Paris Jackson is “utterly distraught” following the release of a documentary about her dad Michael Jackson .

It’s been claimed that the 20-year-old has “suffered a complete meltdown” after the harrowing film Leaving Neverland aired at Sundance Film Festival this weekend .

Friends have said they are worried for Paris and appeared to confirm that she “gone in to hiding”, but sources close to the family deny a report that she has checked into a rehab facility.

According to the Express, the model is “devastated” over the allegations of abuse against her dad by his alleged victims so close to the tenth anniversary of his death.

Dan Reed’s four-hour film Leaving Neverland centres on allegations of two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claimed they were sexually abused by him during their childhood.

The documentary received its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Friday night, with journalists in attendance tweeting their disgust at the claims on-screen.

Prior to the screening, Sundance director John Cooper told the audience there were counsellors on hand for anyone left distressed by the “explicit descriptions of sexual abuse”.

In the doc, which will air on Channel 4 later this year, Robson, 36, detailed his alleged abuse at the hands of Jackson from the age of seven onwards .

Meanwhile, Safechuck, 40, claims he started being molested by the singer at the age of eight after meeting on set of a Pepsi commercial, until he was 14.

Prior to his 2009 death, Jackson repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and was acquitted of child molestation in June 2005.

Earlier this month it was reported Paris had entered a treatment facility amid concerns for her ’emotional and physical health’.

Sources in the United States said that the daughter of late pop legend Michael Jackson, had “decided that she needed to take some time off to reboot, realign and prioritise her physical and emotional health.”

After a busy 12 months, a source close to Paris has told Entertainment Tonight that, “she checked herself into a treatment facility to aid in her wellness plan.”

But Paris hit back at the reports, taking to Instagram on January 16 posting a caption alongside a picture of her dog Gabriel: “The media is exaggerating as per usual.

“Yes I’ve taken a break from work and social media and my phone because it can be too much sometimes, and everyone deserves a break, but I am happy and healthy and feeling better than ever!”

The model had previously spoken about her battle with depression and revealed that she attempted to commit suicide when she was 15.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine a couple of years ago, Paris told them that she had been “cutting herself” and was hiding it from her family.

She said this, “was just self-hatred, low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore.”
