The Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has demanded that the spokespersons of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye and Dele Momodu be arrested, as well as the Presiding Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Center, Paul Enenche, for the parts they have played in inciting violence in the country.
Speaking at a press briefing, Monday, Special Adviser, Media and Communication at the PCC, Dele Alake stated that the general election of February 25th has been adjudged credible by both local and international observers, further stating that security agents should be vigilant about identifying and dealing with individuals and organizations that attempt to torment trouble or any form of unrest in the polity.
According to him, the emerging results are not in tandem with the deceit and propaganda of the opposition which did not get them the expected votes.
Hear him: ‘This has expectedly generated anxiety in their camps with many of their leaders making irresponsible incendiary comments.’
‘We note with utmost concern, those inciting comments and call to violence by some spokespersons of the opposition, especially those from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.’
‘We are particularly concerned and call on the State Security Services and the Nigeria Police Force to immediately restrain persons such as Dino Melaye, Dele Momodu and Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis Church from their clear call to violence.’
‘Melaye’s tweet threatening violence, Momodu going on the TV to announce a purported winner and Enenche’s hate speech from the pulpit violate every law of the land. They should not go scot-free.’
‘When failure stared them in the face, rather than accept the outcome with dignity like good democrats would, some sore losers began shopping for ways to cut corners or scuttle the process.’
‘We have seen many doctored results giving false victory to the Labour Party in places where it performed abysmally poor. The idea was to give its followers hope and prepare them for a planned street insurrection.’
‘The PDP has employed almost similar tactics despite secretly admitting defeat. They went about with mouthwatering offers looking for willing partners that would help them subvert the will of the people,’ the APC added.
Recall that Dino Melaye, who is also the National Collation Agent of the PDP walked out of the International Conference Centre, Abuja alongside other party agents on Monday, after alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had been compromised and that the election was rigged to favour the APC.
His words: ‘Having observed that the Chairman of INEC is determined to rig the elections by making sure that results are not uploaded, by vehemently making a presentation that makes it look as if we are all here to rubber- stamp the fraud cooked between INEC and the APC, we are saying we are not here to rubberstamp the electoral fraud that have been prepared by INEC and the APC.’
‘We are Nigerians. There is nowhere on the server that results have been uploaded. The political parties here staged a walkout to express the unfortunate politicisation and commercialisation of our electoral process.’
