It is a black Wednesday for Nollywood as it loses another veteran, Olu Jacobs.
His son, Jacobs Junior, announced the sad news of his death on his social media page minutes ago.
In his statement, he revealed that his father died today, Wednesday, 16th of September, 2026.
He thanked God for a life well loved and fought. He admonished all bloggers and social media influencers to respect their family’s privacy.

On July 12th, when the veteran turned 84, his wife, Joke Silva had celebrated him with a sweet note. She described him as the Lion of Lufodo and expressed gratitude for his new age.
Last year, the veteran reflected on her love story with Jacobs, thanking God for all the joy, laughter, tears, and sorrow and for guiding her husband through each day. Revealing her desire for him, she asked for peace in these twilight years and rained prayers on him.
A week before his birthday in 2024, one Oba K Solo alleged that the veteran had passed away. The actor’s family had debunked the news with a video of the veteran getting a haircut from someone, and it was clear that he was hale and hearty.
Marking his birthday, Joke shared a video collage that featured Olu Jacobs at different points in his prime. At the end, there was a clip of the veteran actor hanging out in a lounge.
In another post, she penned an appreciation post, revealing that she had received 4,000 messages. She pondered how she could thank the public, and to show her appreciation, she rained prayers on them.
Recall that in 2021, Olu Jacobs’ wife, Joke Silva opened up on the health condition of the actor, revealing that he is battling dementia.
In 2023, Joke had opened up on the impact of his Illness on their marriage, admitting that it has put a strain on their marriage, as her husband is no longer there for her, but the man that is with her is someone she loves.
