Anthony Joshua has knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in a heavyweight world title boxing bout on Saturday, April 29 in Wembley, London.
The British-Nigerian boxer emerged victorious from a keenly fought contest to retain his IBF world heavyweight title and add the vacant WBA heavyweight title with tonight’s win.
The opening rounds were close as both boxers felt each other out with a lot of jabbing.
But the bout really came alive in the fifth when Joshua got Klitschko down, with the 41-year-old recovering before the count.
Klitschko then returned the favour in the very next round as he got Joshua down on the canvas.
Joshua also recovered to continue the fight, which Klitschko was edging at this point.
But with both boxers looking tired, Joshua hit his opponent with a number of blows to knock him out again in the 11th round.
And though Klitschko got up to continue the fight, a further flurry of blows from Joshua was enough for the referee to intervene and end the fight in Joshua’s favour.
The win sees Joshua maintain his unbeaten record in 19 fights, with all 19 wins ending in knock-outs!
