The widow of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has paid an emotional tribute to her late husband on the first anniversary of his untimely death.

Recall that Mohbad died mysteriously on September 12, 2023 and was buried a day after, in Ikorodu.

His widow, Wunmi, took to her verified instagram page and posted an intimate video clip of her late husband, expressing how much she and their son, Liam, have missed him since he died.

While she prayed to God, to forgive his shortcomings, she reflected on all the plans they had together, before his demise and prayed that his soul will find peace.

Her words: ‘Ilerioluwa mi, husband of my youth, my best friend! It’s been a year today since you left Liam and me in this cold world. It’s been so hard. I miss you so much.’

‘Liam misses you too. I wish you were here to see him; you would have been an incredible father. I still don’t know how I’ve survived without you. God, I wish you were here every single day, every millisecond of the day. Your passing, brought me unbearable pain, but it has also shaped me. I’ve learned so much, and I’m still learning. I will never be okay with you not being here; it messes with my head. I keep thinking it’s a nightmare I wake up from, but 366 days of passed, and I haven’t. Oko mi (my husband).’

She further stated: ‘ We had so many plans together, and you have so much more to Gift this world. It’s hot deeply to know that all our dreams, everything you worked so hard for and I’m going with you.’

‘I want you to know that Liam and I are holding on to the strength and love you gave us. Every day, I see pieces of you in him, your kindness, your smile, your spirit. I promise to raise him with the same love and care you would have given him, keeping your memory alive in every step of his life,’ she concluded.

Meanwhile, a peaceful demonstration, led by Yoruba actor, Yomi Fabiyi, was held outside the Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, which was also the venue of the ongoing coroner’s inquest on Wednesday, in honour of Mohbad’s memory.

In reaction to the staged demonstration, Mohbad’s mother, Mrs. Abosede Aloba  appealed to Nigerians to pray for her dead son. She also appealed to the authorities to release his remains for burial.

Hear her: ‘Whatever Mohbad’s father says is final. We don’t support any celebration over our son’s remembrance. The best you can do is to pray for him. We are also pleading with the authorities to release his body so that the family can resolve the lingering issues and move on.’

The late Mohbad was a rapper, songwriter and singer, formerly signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records. He however, left in 2022 to set up his own record label, known as Imolenization. Among his hit songs, are Peace, Ko Por Ke, Sabi, among others.
