The son of Late Bimbo and Taiwo Odukoya, both of blessed memories, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya has been named Senior Pastor and General Overseer of the Fountain of Life Church, during service on Sunday.
Speaking, during the Sunday service, one of the pastors of the church, Rotimi Okpaise, disclosed that the erstwhile General Overseer, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, informed the Board of Trustees of his succession plan before his demise.
He also stated that the choice to make Pastor Jimmy Odukoya the board chairman and Senior Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church was a unanimously agreed decision by the Board of Trustees.
He further explained that Pastor Jimmy Odukoya would be officially installed with his new positions on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
Recall that Pastor Jimmy Odukoya’s father and former General Overseer of the church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, died in far away United States of America on August 7, at the age of 67. His mother was Bimbo Odukoya, who passed on in 2005 after the Sosoliso airplane crashed in Rivers State, Port Harcourt. They were married for 21 years. Jimmy is their first son and second child. His sister, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun was also confirmed as Associate Pastor, effective September 2023.
Recall that years after Bimbo’s demise, Taiwo remarried, this time to a South African lady, Nomthi. Eleven years after they got married, Nomthi died after battling with cancer for two years. She passed on, November 9, 2021. They had two boys together.
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya has an acting background, having acted so many movies in the Nollywood industry. He started his acting career after featuring in a movie titled ‘Baby Shower’ in 2016. He has also featured in popular movies like ‘Woman King’ that was featured in Netflix, where he played a lead role of ‘Oba Ade’ alongside Viola Davis and John Boyega. He has also acted in other movies like ‘Lifting the Veil’, ‘Oga Pastor’ and ‘I am lazy’, among others.
The new General Overseer, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya is also a motivational speaker, fitness enthusiast and dancer. He was once nominated for the ‘Best Supporting Actor of the Year’ category in the African Magic Viewers Choice Award. People have also, often wondered if being a pastor affects his acting career. In an interview with actress Ireti Doyle in January 2021, however, he stated that being a pastor does not affect his acting career. His words: ‘How does being a pastor affect my acting career? I don’t believe it, some people have different opinions, one is if I am an actor, I should be a Christian actor and I say there is no such thing.’
He is known for his passion for youth ministry and his rooted interest in teaching the word of God in a relevant and contemporary way. He also assured that he is deeply committed towards continuing with his father’s legacy by growing the Fountain of Life Church into a global ministry that touches the lives of people all over the world.
He got married to his wife, Oluwakemi Odukoya, Nee Banjoko in 2013, in London and they have two children together.
