Elon Musk taunted disgraced ‘toxic’ influencer Andrew Tate on Friday after he was arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking in Romania.
Tate had chalked his arrest down to the ‘Matrix’ sending ‘their agents’ after him. He and his brother Tristan, along with two Romanian nationals, are accused of luring female victims into their circle then forcing them into online sex work.
The former Big Brother contestant and TikTok and YouTuber frequently refers to how he thinks he is living in a Matrix.
After his arrest on Friday, Musk tweeted a meme with an image of Keanu Reeves in the film.
‘What if I told you the only way to escape the Matrix is to unlearn everything that you have been taught and rebuild your entire belief system based on critical thought and analysis.’

Tate’s account retweeted Musk’s matrix meme, although it is not believed Tate himself is in control of his account, with the influencer still being held by authorities.
Earlier today, Romanian prosecutors asked a Bucharest court to extend the arrest by 30 days, the anti organised crime unit said in a statement.
Tate has previously said he believes we live in a matrix where people are programmed by computers to work until they die, referencing the blockbuster film about a simulated reality.
The concept of the films has been co-opted by a number of far-right conspiracy theorists and men’s rights groups in recent years.
Tate said on the Real Talk with Zuby podcast: ‘We live in a matrix because our body heat and our efforts and our ingenuity are being used by the machines.
‘They are making us go to work and be the the hardest working, smartest versions of ourselves, they’re using our bodies but they want our minds to live in a false reality. They don’t want you to understand the truth about anything.

‘They give you a computer-generated false reality for you to buy into, to occupy your mind, long enough to keep you functional enough to work but not sentient enough to understand your being f***ed and just sit there until you pay and pay taxes until you die. That’s all they want.
‘They don’t want people to truly understand anything about the world. There’s a reason why you go to school and you do not learn about taxes or money or banking or inflation.’
Tate and his brother have been under investigation since April alongside two Romanian nationals.
Footage circulated widely on social media on Thursday appears to show Tate and his sibling being led away from a luxury villa.
He moved to Romania five years ago.
The influencer, who claimed he was a ‘trillionaire’ but is believed to be worth £100million, regularly showcases his lavish lifestyle at his concrete fortress, with a coterie of 33 supercars.
