Popular political activist, Deji Adeyanju has bared his mind on the choice of former Bornu State Governor, Kashim Shettima by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, as his running mate.
Recall that Tinubu confirmed to journalists, during an interview, Sunday, at the Musa Yaradua Airport in Katsina state, that he had chosen the Senator representing Borno Senatorial District, Senator Kashim Shettima to be his running mate in the forthcoming presidential election.
According to him, Shettima will replace Kabiru Masari whose name had already been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the interim Vice President of the APC.
In reaction, Deji Adeyanju stated that by choosing Shettima as Vice President, Tinubu succeeded in sending a very strong message of the Muslim-Muslim ticket across, adding that Shettima will use that position to naturally deliver Borno to the APC with no stress at all.
He made several tweets in his official twitter handle to that effect, all the time insinuating that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket was a strong one for the forthcoming 2023 presidential election, but that both Tinubu and the APC do not care about the controversy surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
He tweeted: ‘Tinubu’s pick of Shettima is a very strong ticket. His VP pick will naturally deliver Borno state to him.’
‘Shettima was at the Centre of Chibok girls abduction and also has a lot to say about Boko Haram. He once said if he said all he knew about Boko Haram, the country will burn.’
‘Tinubu and the APC are saying they don’t give a damn. The message of the Muslim-Muslim ticket is too loud. In fact, they are having a good laugh and with a divided opposition, they will laugh harder in February.’
The Abuja-based Deji Adeyanju has also described Labour Party Presidential flag bearer, Mr Peter Obi as a scam who has succeeded in deceiving Nigerians into believing that he does not fly private jets, when in fact, he travels a great deal in it.
He made this comment after a Twitter user posted the video of the former Anambra State Governor, queuing up at one of the Nigerian airports, waiting to board a commercial flight. The twitter user, @Naija_PR, captioned the video clip : ‘Peter Obi spotted queuing at the airport, we hope this will continue if he becomes the president.
It was that tweet that prompted the socio-political commentator and activist, Deji Adeyanju to respond, stating how the Labour Party presidential flag bearer flew a private jet for two months In 2019 during his presidential campaign with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
2019.
He maintained that Peter Obi constantly made use of private jets for his travels even as he tweeted: ‘This is a scam. Oby uses PJ all the time. In 2019, during the presidential campaign with Atiku, he used a private jet permanently for two months that he paid $600k for.’
‘Atiku later paid part of the money. He’s still owing the company about $300K. Even recently he still used PJ.’
