john-oyegunPresident Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, shunned the governorship rally of the APC in Akure, on Thursday.

The APC governors in the South-West, except the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, also shunned the rally held at the Democracy Park, Akure.

Advertorials heralding the visit of the President and the Vice-President were published in newspapers and aired on the radio and the television.

It was gathered that the absence of the President and other national party leaders was not unconnected with the leadership crisis that had been rocking the party in the past few months.

However, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, declared that the party would defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the November 26 governorship election in the state.
