The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said it will pay its legion of coaches as ‘soon as cash is available.’
There are complaints from coaches of the various national teams that they are yet to get their wages for months. In fact some of the coaches have claimed they are being owned salaries up to five months.
It was learnt that some top officials of the NFF are lobbying some state governors to ‘help shoulder’ the responsibilities.
However, the Secretary General of the NFF, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi told The Guardian yesterday that the coaches would get their pay ‘very soon’.
“It is true we are owning our coaches salaries, but we are working very hard to ensure they get their money very soon,” Sanusi said.
Meanwhile, coach Sunday Oliseh has agreed to pay his former Ajax Amsterdam teammate, Tijjani Babangida, after he insisted on having the ex-Eagles star on his backroom staff.
“He has maintained he will decide who he works with and that is why Babangida will return to the Eagles camp when it reopens for the AFCON qualifiers against Egypt next month,” an official told Mtnfootball.com yesterday.
“He has been his close and trusted confidant right from their playing days and he counts on him a great deal.”
He has made his position on this matter very clear to his employers.
And also the contract he signed with the NFF allows him to appoint an assistant coach as well as a special assistant.
