Hajiya Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, yesterday, November 7, donated N2 million to a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Zamfara.
Buhari’s donation was made by Hajiya Zainab Bagudu, the first lady of Kebbi state, who represented her at the launch of the NGO, which is named – Himma Community Health Circle Initiative (H-COHEIC).
Buhari described the launch of H-COHIEC, which is owned by the Zamfara state governor’s daughter, Hajiya Zainab Yari, as good avenue to improve the well being of women and children in the state.

She also commended UNICEF and other NGOs who partnered with H-COHIEC in order to bring succor to the poor and less privileged.
H-COHIEC coordinator, Hajiya Samina Anka stated that over 50, 000 persons from 14 local government areas of the state would be the first set of beneficiaries of the NGOs scheme.
On her part, Hajiya Yari, said the programme would focus more on orphans, less privileged, women and children in Zamfara state.
Pulse reports that about N70 million was realised during the launch of the NGO, with the highest donation coming from Alhaji Abba Aliero, a Kebbi state based businessman, who donated N10 million.
Meanwhile, Mrs Buhari has called on governors of all states to establish children’s parliament that would prepare them as future leaders.
Buhari made the call on Monday, November 2, in Abuja at the inauguration of the 4th Assembly of FCT Children Parliament.
In a related development, Buhari has promised to advocate publicly for legislation against child marriage. She also stressed that parents should give their female children a chance to acquire formal education.
