Anambra monarch dies after 40 years on the throne

Traditional Ruler of Amansea Community in Awka North local government area of Anambra state Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo died Friday evening after a brief illness.
Okonkwo who have been managing a kidney stone illness was reported to have gone to Eldorado hospital Awka for medical attention and passed on will receiving medical attention.
At the palace of the Igwe scores of Traditional Rulers and top government functionaries and politicians had already taken over the area on condolences visit.
Younger brother to the monarch who is also the member representing Awka North state Constituency Mr Borniface Okonkwo could not believe what happened and when this reporter met him he said that he cannot talk now as the death is still a shock to him.
Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo became Traditional Ruler at the age of eighteen years after his father was a traditional ruler was killed in a controversial circumstance .
Okonkwo has been on the throne for forty years and was one time vice Chairman Anambra Traditional Rulers Council.
