Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have stormed the residence of Nigeria’s former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The development comes shortly after the official’s arrest in London by the UK National Crime Agency.

According to Premium Times, the representatives of the anti-graft agency arrived at Diezani’s house located in Asokoro district of Abuja, having sealed the property in the evening of Friday, October 2.

The video by the Osasu depicts the very moments of the raid.

At the same time the EFCC stormed the Lagos home of Jide Omokore, one of Diezani’s business allies. A source disclosed to Sahara Reporters that his wife locked herself inside one of the rooms at Turnbull to hide from the operatives.

UPDATE:

The heavy security presence noticed at the Diezani’s house has given way to two vans with some security officers in mufti. A resident of the area who monitored the situation disclosed to Naij.com that EFCC left very late at night.

“The EFCC people were here till around 11 to 12 pm yesterday before they left one after the other. The security officers were also mean, they even tried beating up some journalists who wanted to take pictures and videos of the house,” he said.

He then warned our correspondent not to take pictures as the security officers would take offence.

When our correspondent approached the operatives of the anti-graft agency for comment they declined to speak. The former minister’s house is on the same street as Dangote’s.

Diezani was among the five Nigerians detained in the UK on Friday, October 2, over bribery and corruption related offences.

Although initially the identities of those arrested were not provided, in a fresh development the UK operatives confirmed Diezani’s detention and seizing of her passport.
