Chief Olu Falae Kidnapped In Ondo State

Chief Olu Falae, a former Secretary General of the Federation (SGF), has been kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.

Investigations reveal that Falae was abducted in the on Monday, September 21, at his Ilado farm along Igbatoro Road, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.

The abductors of the Afenifere chieftain,  have demanded payment of N100 million ransom for his release.

A source said the kidnappers called Falae’s wife and told her that a ransom of N100 million must be paid before on or before Tuesday, September 22 if they wanted the statesman released alive.

Remi Olayiwole, the spokesman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo state, confirmed the story.

Remi is quoted as saying: “His wife received a phone call from the kidnappers later, and a voice was heard telling the family to bring N100 million before the end of tomorrow,”.

The spokes man who outrightly condemned the act, informed newsmen that the gunmen stormed the farm at about 2pm on Monday shooting sporadically in the air.

He said: “They met him in his farm at Ilado and were shooting before taking him away,”.

However, Wole Ogodo, police spokesman in Ondo state declined information on the matter, saying that more time was needed for investigations.

Meanwhile, reactions have been trailing the Kidnap of Falae, urging security officials to get to the root of the matter.

The SDP has condemned the abduction of its national chairman, the party called on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the act are brought to book.

Oke Idawene, the chairman of the SDP in Delta state, said it is very sad that a man like Falae should go through a dehumanizing  experience after all he has done in Nigeria.

In an interview with Vanguard, Oke pleaded with the abductors of the former SGF to release the old man, arguing that he is a good Nigerian in all standings.

It is worthy to note that Chief Falae was one of the most prominent voices that kicked for the implementation of the 2014 National conference report.

The National Chairman of the (SDP) in April, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the dictates of the report on assumption of office.

He stressed that the implementation of the report would help to revamp and re-launch the nation.
