Former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday, September 8, held a secret meeting with Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Obasanjo, who wore a flowing white gown, refused to speak with state house correspondents on his mission.

It is the second time in two month when two Nigerian leaders meet behind closed doors.

The first meeting was held at official residence of the president on August 7, 2015.

There were speculations that Obasanjo visited Buhari to intercede on behalf of Turai, the wife of a former president of Nigeria, late Umaru Yar’Adua. The woman had reportedly complained that her family was having some problems with the “Buhari people”.

After the Tuesday meeting, which lasted for over an hour, Obasanjo refused to speak with state house correspondents and did not give any details of his conversation with the president.

He simply told journalists that approached him: “No, No, joor”.

However, it is believed that the ex-president’s visit may be connected with his mission to Guinea Bissau.

On August 21, Buhari named Obasanjo as his special envoy to mediate and help find a solution to the crisis rocking the country.
