It is no longer a thing of surprise to see Nigerian celebrities doing so well, especially in the music industry, reason being that the name of the game has changed to a level that majority of Nigerian musical entertainers and superstars only opt for what seems to be the best out there.
Just recently, Nigerian musician Ayo Balogun popularly known as WizKid, achieved another height with his new album “Made in Lagos”, in the UK.
The recent Nigerian superstar’s album ‘Made in Lagos’, proved its global recognition, quality and acceptance by being on the list of Guardian UK’s top best 50 albums of 2020.
The album, since its release on October 30 2020 has received positive commendations and has broken so many records. It was placed at the 43rd spot on the UK Guardian’s list.
The Starboy Entertainment record label chairperson also happens to be the only African artist who made this top fifty list.
Commenting on the Starboy’s album the Guardian UK had this to say:
“Nigerian pop continued to establish itself more firmly on the international stage in 2020 with successful albums by Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Tems, and more. The best of them all was this lilting, versatile record by Wizkid. Guest stars from across the Black Atlantic – Skepta and Ella Mai from the UK, HER from the US, Damian Marley, and Projexx from Jamaica – create the sense of a diasporic dialogue, where reggae, dancehall, rap, and Afro-swing seamlessly and sensually intertwine.”
It’s always a thing of joy and pride to see our Nigerian-born folks excel in their field of specialization especially outside the shores of the country. Nigerians are impressed and congratulate WizKid for this wonderful achievement.
