About three days after the second tape of Nollywood actress, Moyo Lawal, was leaked on the cyber space, popular skit maker, Oderhohwo Efe, also known as Carter Efe, has cried out about being blackmailed over a sex tape.
The 27-year-old Skit maker, who is now a singer, shocked his fans on social media when he went to his official page in the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he is being blackmailed over a sex tape and has received threats that it would be released soon. He explained that he wanted his fans to know about it before it is eventually released.
His tweet: ‘I am here to publicly announce that I am being blackmailed and that my sextape will be released soon. I am just here to let everyone know before it’s out. Peace.’
Carter Efe did not give specific details about the sex tape. He only explained that someone who had access to it was threatening to make it public without his permission.
Since he made this post, the social media has been agog with different reactions. Most of his fans are wondering if he was being truthful or if he was just being comic and just chasing fame with the Moyo Lawal sex tape which has been trending on social media. Meanwhile, Moyo has since reacted to her leaked video, stating clearly that the unidentified man in her video clip was her fiance.
Blackmail threats are not new on social media. In recent times, many celebrities have suffered such fates as is being experienced by Carter Efe, presently. It is however, common among the female celebrities, including Moyo Lawal and successful musician, Tiwa Savage.
Recall that in October 2021, the popular Tiwa Savage revealed that she was being blackmailed over her Snapchat sex tape. She discussed the attempt to blackmail her during an interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1 in New York, stating that the blackmailer demanded a monetary ransom from her.
In 2020, Toke Makinwa was threatened by some individuals who claimed that they had some of her nude pictures. She came to social media and shared the e-mail she received from the unidentified person who was demanding a large sum of money from her. They were, however, unlucky, as the so-called, nude pictures were edited photos of Toke in a swimsuit, which she posted in 2018.
Still in 2020, successful Nigerian singer, Salawa Abeni, who is also known as Waka Queen, faced the same threats by a blackmailer that claimed to have her nude pictures. On her part, Salawa Abeni shared screenshots of her conversation with the blackmailer on social media after he demanded money, threatening that he would make the photos go viral if she didn’t pay up. Unluckily for the blackmailer, who turned out to be a 19 year old young man, he was fished out and arrested.
