Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested Linus Williams, a crypto billionaire popularly known as BLord, in Abuja on Tuesday.
He faces allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and aiding internet fraud, among other charges related to his companies.
In an interview, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrest, stating it was based on complaints against BLord’s businesses.
Adejobi assured that the police would conduct a thorough investigation, saying, “Yes, we have him with us.
“The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology.”
The alleged offences include “cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.”
Adejobi emphasised the importance of ensuring cyberspace safety and security, stating, “We will do due diligence in our investigation.
“Our cyberspace must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
He also clarified that the arrest was not due to a petition from Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
