The Concerned PDP League, also popularly called ‘PDP Watchdog’, has demanded the resignation of Chairman, Board of Trustees of the party, Walid Jibrin, her National Chairman; Uche Secondus, Financial Secretary; Abdullahi Maibasira and other members of the National Working Committee.
This, they said, was expedient because of the failure of the PDP stalwarts to provide a strong leadership base that PDP patriots and Nigerians longed to have, so as to be finally free from the imminent dearth and collapse of the political, social and economic situation they find themselves in the country.
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Daboikiabo Warmate, leader of the concerned PDP League, demanded that the party’s leadership provided Nigerians with people-oriented position.
While calling on the PDP helmsmen to lead a One million man protest against the high cost of living, killings, insecurity, hunger and delay in passing and signing the electoral bill into law, he pointedly called on the senate to reject the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as a National Commissioner of The Independent National Electoral Commission.
He described her nomination as inconsistent with any and every electoral law in Nigeria most especially section 153, sub-section 3 and item F, paragraph 14(2)(c) of the Third Schedule of the 1999 constitution as amended.
Hear him: ‘Uche Secondus, and his team were unable to galvanize and harmonize the plethora of individuals, groups and regional interests, and this has led to a series of decamping, court cases and crises in some states and local government area chapters.
The board of trustees chairman, with his actions and inaction, has done little or nothing in calling the National Chairman to order and also boosting the morale of millions of members and Nigerians at large just as the National Chairman has not lived up to his responsibility.’
He also demanded that the PDP leadership should stand by the Niger State appeal panel reports and conduct a free and fair congress on or before June 30 2021 and uphold the suspension of former governor of the State, Babangida Aliyu.
Recall that weeks ago, the concerned PDP League release a similar press statement on their Facebook page where they made it clear that the ideals of the group stood for the genuine interest of their party which made them set the record straight at times when they had any crisis. They also tried to make Nigerians understand from the same post on Facebook that they neither spoke for any individual, nor supported anyone. They only watched out for their party, PDP.
Part of their release said this about their National Chairman, Secondus: ‘his inability to give the teeming members of our great party PDP and Nigerians at large the desired and deserved active and proactive opposition leadership which became permanently clear since last year, when the failures of the APC led Federal government became abundantly visible to Nigerians, these inabilities of a National Chairman birthed the agitation and calls for his removal.
This can be seen from the crisis and decamping of some key members in some of our states and Local Government Area chapters, e.g, Ekiti, Lagos, Zamfara, Niger, Ogun, Cross River and Edo state just to mention some.
This is not to talk about the almost visible absence of the supposedly leading opposition party in the political space of our country. There is death, hunger economic hardship and insecurity and some people are even asking, where is PDP?
