Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former minister of finance and coordinating minister for economy, has received a new appointment.
On Monday, September 21, Lazard Ltd announced that Okonjo-Iweala has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor with a focus on sovereign advisory.
Announcing her appointment, Kenneth M. Jacobs, the chairman and chief executive officer of Lazard Ltd, said:
“Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has built a remarkable international reputation over more than three decades in leadership positions in government and at the World Bank.”
Matthieu Pigasse, global head of M&A and sovereign advisory of Lazard, noted that Okonjo-Iweala would be “a strong addition” to the firm.

According to Business Wire, Lazard Ltd is one of the world’s prominent financial advisory and asset management firms. The company operates from 43 cities across 27 countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, North, Central and South America.
Lazard Ltd provides advice on mergers and acquisitions, strategic matters, restructuring and capital structure, capital raising and corporate finance. The firm works with corporations, partnerships, institutions, governments and individuals.
The former minister has also been appointed the chair-elect of the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. Speaking about her new appointments, she said:
