Anambra-born billionaire and founder of Cubana Group, Dr Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has, Friday, launched a new e-hailing transport service, ‘Enviable Transport’, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking during a press conference and launch event, where the new transport service was unveiled, Obi Cubana stated that Port Harcourt had over 3 million people resident in it and remained one of the best cities in Nigeria, that has gone through major transformation.
He explained how he marveled every time he visited the city, because of the level of progress that has happened in it over the years. This, he said, made him think of a way to make life better for residents and create new jobs while improving the economy of the city.
His words: ‘Today, I am glad to announce that we birthed a new transport service that is local and that is relevant, and we are here with this new service to bridge an existing gap in urban transportation.’
‘This e-hailing service will deliver better services than any before it or that will come after because we have built this on deep-rooted innovations and technology
‘I am particularly delighted to be unveiling and launching this latest project, the @enviable transport e-hailing services, in the company of friends and family!’
He further explained his need to bridge the gap in modern day transportation, even as they infused discipline, class integrity, quality, service, delivery in the transportation business. He specifically stated that all the cars involved in his business will be brand new in 2023.
The billionaire entrepreneur explained how he and his partners intended to bring the transformational change they introduced in PortHarcourt, to every city in Nigeria. He noted that the business is very local content conscious and that drivers would be sourced locally, so as to encourage job creation and empowerment for young people around the state.
According to Obi Cubana, the launch particularly projected the first phase of the project. He maintained that every locally manufactured car would be on the fleet because of his intention to showcase local capacity and indigenous innovation.
He also expressed his intention to extend the service to Asaba and other states at the right time.
Hear him: ‘Lastly, I want to assure you that Port Harcourt has been selected as the starting point and this service will be extended to Asaba, Enugu, and other states once the time is right and that will be very soon.’
‘Again, while we are not competing with other foreign car-hailing service providers, we simply want to give Nigerians their own car-hailing service because we believe in homegrown businesses and solutions, and we also believe in exporting Nigerian innovation abroad to earn foreign exchange for the country just as I have done with other products and in other sectors.’
Enviable Transport has its office located at Dreamland Plaza, along Peter Odili Road, by Abraham Close, Trans Amadi Layout, in the Rivers State capital. It has a fleet of brand new cars suited for both corporate and leisure rides. Apart from its top-notch security, it offers an easy booking system, with fast pick-up and drop-off for both residents and visitors that throng the city of Port Harcourt.
